On Sunday, March 2, 2008 I still left my house approximately 11:30Am looking for some action. I directed myself towards Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey. Near the street, on the Indian trail, I noticed a gate opened towards the mountain. I noticed some hawks flying over and thought that something was heading on. Sudently I spotted this beautiful Faisan(Pheasant)

We arrived home from brunch this afternoon to witness a spectacular aerial fight between some crows and a hawk in the sky above our house. The crows were trying to drive the hawk away from the trees in our neighbor's backyard. There were swooping chases through the sky, and at several factors a crow would dive-bomb the hawk. It was very hard to photograph, but I thought this shot turned out well.

This was taken at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, which was known to local residents, in less marketing driven times, as the Wild Animal Park. When I think &quotGreat White&quot, a pelican is not what will come to mind. I can't recall seeing pictures of pelicans flying off with seals in their pouches, or surfers driven from the h2o by reports of pelican sightings. Nevertheless, a sign identified this bird as a Great White Pelican. Still, seeing this buffed out bird raising it's powerful wings like this, and I start to wonder if the rumors of rampant steroid use among pelicans are true . That would explain the tattoos and piercings. This might make the cover of Pelican Life Magazine. www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/4307911676/#/photos/942...

I'm a grandfather (sort of) !!
The blue robin eggs hatched yesterday, revealing tiny birds with closed eyes and only fluff for feathers.
I think I'm going to go find some worms. . .

Been trying to catch some of the little birds that venture into the new glass ball feeder, and finally managed. The early (well, around 9am for us!) morning light was nice today as the sun actually made an appearance after many cloudy days.
